Microsoft Attorney William "Duke" Nukem is asking for a delay until the
year 2000 in the case against his company by the Justice Department to
allow more time to prepare. However, a source at the company indicated
that the real strategy was to wait until the government's computers
crashed due to the millennium bug. "Gates figures that will cut off the
air supply of Justice because they'll lose all their files relating to the
case. Microsoft has a fix for the problem but since the government is so
big on helping other companies at our expense, they can damn well go to
them for help," the executive who asked to remain anonymous said. In
response a spokeswoman at the Justice Department said, "If this is true,
Janet Reno will regard Gates as the 'David Koresh' of the software
industry and order in the tanks."
