NEW YORK (DWPI) -- Two surprise mergers between major high-tech and
defense corporations have left Wall Street reeling. The two largest PC
makers, IBM and Compaq, announced plans to merge in response to the
shrinking market for PC's. The new venture, aimed at capturing lucrative
military-industrial contracts, will be known as "ICBM." In other merger
news, industry dinosaur Honeywell announced its acquisition of silicon
specialist Fairchild, forming a new corporation to be named "FairWell,
HoneyChild."
